Lately, I’ve been looking for a way to combine fitness, fresh air, and stress relief—and I’ve found it in rucking. It became popular because of GORUCK. GORUCK was founded by a former Green Beret, GORUCK has built a global community around the idea of “rucking stronger together.” They design high-quality gear and organize ruck challenges, events, and team-based workouts across North America and beyond.
In simple terms, rucking is simply walking or hiking with a weighted vest or backpack. It’s low-impact, beginner-friendly, and one of the most efficient ways to build strength, endurance, and cardiovascular health all at once.
Every Sunday at 8:30AM, I join the Ruck Buddies crew Mt. Doug Park, PKOLS, in Victoria, one of my favorite spots to escape into nature that is close to town. Ruck Buddies is an official club under GORUCK.
For my rucking sessions, I’ve been using this adjustable weighted vest from Amazon. Although I dream of owning a GORUCK "official" gear, I happy with my Amazon purchase to start.
Who knows—you might spot me at Mt. Doug, rucking at 8:30AM on Sunday's alongside a group of stellar ruckers.
